To find out when your birthday is, Snapchat looks at the date in your phone’s contacts list. If you have your birthday listed in your contact information, Snapchat will automatically add it to your profile.

Once your birthday is in your Snapchat profile, your friends will be able to see it when they look at your profile. And on your birthday, they’ll be able to see a special “Happy Birthday” filter that you can add to your photos and videos.
